Chagsham, 27, is from Gartse, located at the border of Qinghai and Gansu. He had previously pursued studies in thangka painting but was disappointed that the teacher was rarely present. Through the artist grapevine, he came to know Tibetan Artists’ Development Company. The first time he took the entrance exam, he wasn’t chosen, so he continued to study diligently by himself, to return back the next year to take the exam again. Obviously Kristel and the students were impressed at how much he wanted to join the school. He turned out to have talent, brains and a capacity for humor and helpfulness that has changed the dynamic of the group for the better.
